So, I'm having no end of problems getting my new Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 working with my setup. I have Ubuntu 18.04 and use Bitwig. Sound is really distorted, like it sounds like digital lossiness not like distortion from being too loud. The Scarlett will randomly shut off during playback and then when it turns back on there is no sound. When I try and restart the Jack server through Qjackctl, it tells me «d-bus: jack server could not be stopped.» Like, ok I told you to stop it I don't know why you aren't listening.. When I first got the device setup, it actually was working great, I was able to record live through all the inputs and playback just fine. I have the latency and Frames/period set really high in the Jack config because low settings just don't work. I don't know if I just have too much going on in my song right now or what, but when I hit play it just plays all distorted for a few seconds and then the Scarlett crashes. I try and restart Bitwig but it just tells me «cannot open audio device» and since Jack won't restart I can't do anything until I reboot. Idk this is way too much of a headache, I know it may not be the Scarlett's issue per se, but everything was working fine before, so I'm considering just returning it.
